Freezing temperatures in the forecast for western Nevada County

Overnight temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing in the Grass Valley area this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Dry weather is in the forecast for the next two weeks as a cold front moves in.

A high of 50 degrees is predicted for today in Grass Valley with a low of 32. Winds are expected to move in, with gusts in the five to 15 mph range at lower elevations and in the 30 to 40 mph range in more exposed areas.

The Weather Service recommends protecting crops and other sensitive vegetation, which could be damaged by freezing temperatures. The service also reminds people to keep an eye on livestock and bring pets indoors overnight.

Temperatures should rise throughout the week, with highs in the mid- to upper-50s by Wednesday and lows around 37 degrees.
