Frederikke Hammond obituary

Graveside services for Frederikke “Anita” Hammond of Grass Valley will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Hammond died Friday, Nov. 3, in Grass Valley. She was 98.

She was born Aug. 14, 1908, in Owatonna, Minn., Hans and Johanna Jensen. She graduated from eighth grade and married Alvin Hammond on Aug. 10, 1934. She retired from the Emporium department store in 1960, and moved to Grass Valley in 1986. She enjoyed gardening, listening to books on tape and walking.



She is survived by her nephew, Charles Long of Plantation, Fla.; nieces Fran Walker and Joan King both of Hayward, and Faith King of Rocklin; great-nephews Gary King of Rocklin, and Daniel King of Auburn; great-nieces Monika and Jennifer Long both of Florida; and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hammond in 1981; brothers Walter and Marcus; and sisters Helen and Ilene.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Club of Nevada City.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
