Frederick Gauvin

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon for Frederick Augustine “Fred” Gauvin. Mr. Gauvin, of Auburn, passed away July 12 at the Sacramento VA Medical Center in Rancho Cordova. He was 65.

Mr. Gauvin was born to Raymond Gauvin and Mary Christafulli in Fitchburg, Mass. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1960 and went on to serve in the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. He was stationed at the Naval Air Station, Moffett Field, as an aircraft engine mechanic.

Mr. Gauvin owned Fred’s Automotive in Grass Valley for 15 years. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and cars.

Mr. Gauvin is survived by his son, Richard Gauvin of Manteca; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jeff Liddle of Grass Valley; stepfather, Don Christians of Leominster, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Frank Hughs of Omaha, Neb.; and girlfriend, Lois De Jarnett of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond A. Gauvin, in 1964; and mother, Mary (Christafulli) Christians, in 1998.
