Frank Royce Sr.

Memorial services for Frank L. Royce Sr. of Brownsville will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle, 5286 Feather River Blvd. in Linda. For more information, call (650) 692-1151 or (650) 743-8555.

Mr. Royce died Friday, Nov. 1. He was 83.

He was born June 6, 1919, in San Francisco. He was raised in Anderson and attended Anderson High School until he joined the California Conservation Corps, where he attained his high school diploma. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II.

He became a certified heavy-duty mechanic in the Navy. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union for more than 44 years and worked on many of California’s dams, including Shasta, Trinity and Whiskeytown.

During this time he was also an assistant pastor or pastor in both Redding and Grass Valley. He had recently retired from Faith Lighthouse in Brownsville.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie Royce of Brownsville; sons Frank L. Royce Jr., of Marysville and Floyd Royce of Auburn; daughters Francelia Zito of Oregon House, Fern Royce Jones of Berkeley and Frieda Wisshack of Folsom; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
