Frank Rizzo

Memorial services for Frank Rizzo of Grass Valley will be conducted at Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Rizzo died Jan. 27 at his home. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 8, 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to John and Laura Rizzo. Upon graduation from high school in 1942, he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard and served in World War II. After living for two years in Cincinnati, he returned to California where he worked at the Naval Air Station in Alameda until he retired in 1985.

He married Marian McCone on Dec. 23, 1957. They retired to Grass Valley in 1988. He was active in the Sierra Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marian Rizzo, of Grass Valley; sons, Timothy Rizzo of Visalia, Philip Rizzo of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Paul Rizzo of Reno, Nev.; sister Betty Ferreri, of Sacramento; brother Anthony Rizzo of Cincinnati; daughters-in-law Glenna Rizzo and Marie Rizzo and grandchildren, Chantalle and Seth Rizzo, and Tenney and Kyle Rizzo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City or Hospice of the Foothills in Grass Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of Northern California, Grass Valley Branch.
