Fowler to speak on creative writing

Karen J. Fowler, author of “The Jane Austen Book Club,” will speak on “The Creative Writing Process” Wednesday at the Madelyn Helling Library’s community room in Nevada City.

Publishers Weekly stated that Fowler’s most recent book “features her trademark sly wit, quirky characters and digressive storytelling.”

Fowler has written four other novels including “Sister Noon,” for which she was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award.

Wednesday’s free presentation at 7 p.m. is through Sierra Writers. A general meeting precedes the program at 6:30 p.m.

The library is at 980 Helling Way next to the Rood Administration Center off of Highway 49.

Sierra Writers meets the second Wednesday of each month.

Call Jan Westmore at 265-0718 for any questions about the group or the presentation.
