Four bands add up to one great rock show

In something like a battle of the bands in Grass Valley, four bands-Strifer, DNR, Fall From Grace and Slutzville – will take over The Center for the Arts Saturday in an all-ages rock show.

Fresh out of a real band competiton – the Bodogmusic Battle of the Bands, where it was one of the 17 bands selected to appear on the premier episode of several week ago – Strifer is bringing new ideas to alternative rock with their complex time signatures and progressive riffs. Their new EP is due out later in the year.

A four-piece band from Sacramento, Death and Revenge – known as DNR – mixes influences of punk rock, hard core and metal, screaming lyrics to a heavy, chaotic sound.

Fall From Grace, seemingly the oldest band (2004) from the farthest away (Seattle), was also a Bodog finalist. “Covered in Scars” is the band’s new, limited edition CD.

Finally, Slutzville plays punk.
