Former county auditor succumbs to cancer

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at the Sierra Presbyterian Church in Nevada City for former Nevada County Auditor-Controller Bruce Bielefelt. He died Monday of cancer.

Bielefelt, 65, worked for the county for more than 28 years, spending the last 19 as the auditor-controller. He cut back his work schedule last August for health reasons and then retired at the end of the year according to his wife, Jane Bielefelt.

“He was a calm guy,” Mrs. Bielefelt said Thursday. “We liked our private family life in Rough & Ready.”

“He was a very nice man,” said Marcia Salter, Bielefelt’s successor said. “We all enjoyed working for him, he was very well respected.”

Besides his wife, Bielefelt is survived by sons Michael and Glenn of Sacramento; daughter Amy and her husband, Ken, of Tracy; and three grandchildren.
