Forest Lake Christian girls win section championship 75-50

Defending state champion Forest Lake Christian girls basketball claimed its third straight section championship today by beating Central Valley Christian League rival Sacramento Waldorf 75-50, the third victory over the Waves this season.

The Falcons, 26-5, sped out to a 12-3 lead in the first five minutes and never looked back in this afternoon’s Sac-Juaquin Section Division V Championship game.

FLC led 24-11 after one quarter and 38-24 at halftime. Sac Waldorf (25-6) cut the margin to 46-35 with two minutes left in the third quarter, but Forest Lake Christian responded with an 11-0 run to put the Waves behind a 57-35 deficit early in the fourth quarter.

FLC wasn’t threatened again.

Forest Lake Christian junior Olympia Jacobs led the Falcons with 23 points. Senior Brooke Hodges had 18 points and 11 rebounds while juniors Brittany Allen and Taylor Kilgore each scored 14. Sac Waldorf was led by Jake Kelly, the CVCL leading scorer, who had a game-high 28 points on 7-of-30 shooting.

Forest Lake Christian awaits word on who its first-round opponent will be at next weeks Northern California State Tournament.
