Forest Lake chalks it up – to upper-classmen

Walking onto a new high school campus can be a frightening experience for students, but the Forest Lake Christian High School Student Council wanted every student to feel personally welcomed.

On Sept. 1, the first day of school for Forest Lake Christian School in southern Nevada County, the sidewalks and pavement were colored in an array of more than 200 names.

Student Council members arrived an hour early that day and wrote out the names of each student and the high school staff using sidewalk chalk.

The previous Friday, Student Council members also held a free ice-cream social for new and incoming students. The goal of the Student Council is to foster a sense of belonging and unity at Forest Lake Christian.
