Foothills Celebration offers wine, food and music
Saturday’s second annual Foothills Celebration will include wine tasting, food tasting and music in downtown Grass Valley from 1 to 4 p.m.
Twenty-four wineries from Nevada, El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin and Amador counties will set up tasting stations in various shops around town. Paired with the wineries will be 25 area restaurants offering tastes of its best dishes.
Five music groups will entertain with bluegrass, country, blues, jazz, Celtic and barbershop.
The Alpha Building will feature a wine barrel-making display by Tonnellerie Radoux, a cooperage from Santa Rosa; and works by California ARTwalk artists.
On the Loose, a five-piece band, will perform in the Alpha Building, playing traditional and contemporary bluegrass. RKX, another five-piece band, will perform original folk, rock ballads, country and blues tunes at Carlos’ Restaurant during the celebration. The Owl will host country duo Harmony & Company. Joyful Strings, the duo of Tim Kretzmann and Rick Toles, will play Celtic music at Grass Valley Courtyard Suites.
Barbershop quartet Foothill Express will entertain first at registration and then stroll around town.
Admission is $25 in advance and $30 at the door, good for unlimited wine-tasting and four food-tasting samples.
Tickets are at Music in the Mountains’ box office, Book Seller, Odyssey Books, Pleasant Valley Pharmacy, Mike’s Alta Sierra Market and the chambers of commerce in Grass Valley and Nevada City.
On Saturday, tickets will be at the Center for the Arts and the Old Post Office building.
Music in the Mountains and Grass Valley Downtown Association are co-producing the rain-or-shine event.
