Foothill Theatre Company offers summer camps

The Foothill Theatre Company is offering Shakespeare summer camps for children and teenagers from July 14 to 25 at the Off Center Stage at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley.

The Shakespeare Junior camp is for children aged 8 through 15. The Teen Shakespeare Intensive camp is for teenagers only.

The Shakespeare Junior camp teaches young performers basic Shakespearean acting, stage composition, movement, vocal techniques, how to approach a character and how to work as an ensemble.

The Teen Shakespeare Intensive is for students with some stage experience and builds upon the foundation laid in the Shakespeare Junior camp. This advanced session gives students an in-depth idea of a Shakespearean script. Students learn script analysis, character development and acquire an understanding of verse and scansion.

Both the camps culminate in a showcase of student performances for family and friends at the Nevada Theater. Students also receive a free T-shirt.

Enrollment fee for the Shakespeare Junior camp is $335, and for the Teen Shakespeare Intensive is $510. Discounted rates are available for families sending more than one child to the camps.

Registration forms can be downloaded at http://www.foothilltheatre.org.
