Indie rock trio Floater performs tonight, Oct. 18, at the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center, 17894 Tyler Foote Road, Nevada City (on the San Juan Ridge, 17 miles from town). A popular band from the Pacific Northwest, it pushes the boundaries of modern rock, “incorporating familiar hooks and sounds from rock influences such as U2, The Doors and Pink Floyd, and venturing into realms of heavy metal, folk, psychadelica and flamenco.” Also performing is Benjamin Oak Goodman, who was featured on Nevada County’s Grass Roots Records 2006 compilation, “Family Album,” and Michaela, who does solo electric violin. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; beer and food available. Tickets for $14 can be purchased through ticketweb.com or for $20 at the door. Call the Schoolhouse at (530) 265-2826.
