Fires damage homes

One Nevada County home was destroyed and another was severely damaged in two separate fires Monday night.

The first fire at 11852 1/2 Brunswick Drive was reported at 6:54 p.m., after several area residents heard an explosion. The house was fully involved when fire crews arrived.

Several power lines were also reportedly damaged in the blaze, which was contained at 7:29 p.m. Crews from Nevada County Consolidated, Ophir Hill, Peardale-Chicago Park and Grass Valley fire departments responded.



The second fire was reported at 8:37 p.m. at 11211 Ragan Way, in Alta Sierra. The home was 50 percent engulfed in flames when crews from Nevada County Consolidated arrived. It was contained at 9:20 p.m.

No injuries were reported in either blaze.
