Firefighters save Lake Wildwood home

Firefighters saved a Lake Wildwood home from a strong blaze Thursday morning, but not before it leveled the attached garage.

No people or pets were inside the home on the 20600 block of Chaparral Circle and no firefighters were injured, according to Penn Valley Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Don Wagner.

A neighbor across the street from the fire said a PG&E employee driving by noticed the blaze. He knocked on her door excitedly about 9:05 a.m. and told her to call 911.

The neighbor did and Penn Valley fire engines responded quickly.

“It looks like it started in the garage and moved into the attic of the main living space,” Battalion Chief Don Wagner at the smoldering scene. “A few more minutes and we probably would have lost the whole rest of the structure.”

The cause is under investigation, Wagner said. For the full story, see Friday’s edition of The Union.
