No one was injured in a late Thursday structure fire in Cascade Shores, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded after 11 p.m. to reports of a fire at 12557 Artic Close, said Patrick Mason, deputy fire marshal with Nevada County Consolidated Fire District.

“When they arrived at the scene it was heavy fire out of the second story of a two-story structure,” Mason said.

The resident and a dog escaped from the fire without injury, he added.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in an hour. Fire damage was limited to the second story, though water damage is throughout the home, Mason said.

Window screens on a neighbor’s shed had heat damage from the blaze. No other damage was reported, the deputy fire marshal said.

“The cause is still under investigation at this point,” he added.
