Few teachers attended fundraiser for Nevada Union

The presentation by Brian Shul at Twin Cities Church on March 6, was powerful and inspiring. Dan and Joanne Castles were the primary forces behind this event, which raised thousands of dollars for classroom supplies at Nevada Union High School.

Mr. Shul was engaging and entertaining with spectacular photography and videos. The Twin Cities Church was the perfect venue and they are to be commended for allowing us to use their facility.

However, there was one disappointment for me and that was after Dan asked the NU students to stand and be recognized (and there were an impressive number), he asked the NU teachers to do the same and by my count, only four people stood up.

It’s possible that I may have miscounted and/or perhaps some didn’t want to be recognized. However, I do know that two teachers were involved in helping with the event, so by my calculation, only two out of more than 100 NU teachers thought it was an event worthy of their support. I find this interesting in light of the fact that it was a fundraiser more or less for them.

Other than that, it was a fantastic evening for a great cause!
