Excitement tonight at Bear River choir invitational

Three of the best student show choirs in California will perform jazz, pop hits, show tunes and rock’n’roll tonight and Saturday at Bear River High School.

Bear River’s vocal ensembles Jazz Unlimited and Starlite Express will host the invitational showcase “Fantasy of Stars” starting at 7:30 p.m. at the school’s Performing Arts Theater, 11130 Magnolia Rd., in southern Nevada County.

The two choirs have placed in top spots in their categories in competitions across the nation.

Their frequent rivals, show choirs from Enterprise High School in Redding and from San Marin High School in Novato, will join them.

Tonight’s performance will include an appearance by Starmakers, the show choir from Magnolia Intermediate School. Some of this year’s BRHS show choir members got started in Starmakers.

Tickets cost $10 for general, $5 for students and are on sale at the BRHS student store and by calling 268-3700 ext. 4833.
