Evelyn Martin

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., June 23 at Abundant Life Community Church, Alta Street, Grass Valley, for Evelyn N. Martin. Pastor Sam Floyd will officiate. Mrs. Martin, of Grass Valley, passed away May 27 at a local hospital. She was 93.

Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 30, 1913 to George C. Hicks and Bird N. (Pruitt) Hicks, in Akron, Kan.

She completed the 10th grade and obtained her GED while attending vocational school. On June 16, 1945, she married F.C. Martin.

While living in Grass Valley, she was a member of Abundant Life Community Church, Sierra Services for the Blind and Grass Valley “TOPS.” Her hobbies included her family and her church.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Jack W. Critser; daughter, Jill I. Neff; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.C. Martin, in 1987.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
