Evelyn Cross

Memorial services for Evelyn J. Cross of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nevada City. Graveside services were held Monday at the Grass Valley Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Cross died Thursday, June 24, in Grass Valley. She was 84.

She was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Wattowan County, Minn., to Arthur and Jennie (Gassman) Stolze. She married Kenneth Cross on May 4, 1952, in Yuma, Ariz.



She worked for the J.C. Penney Co. in Grass Valley. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 40, Aurora Chapter, Gulldolen Lodge, and Sons of Norway.

She enjoyed crafts, sewing and painting.




She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cross of Grass Valley; daughters Judy Main of Grass Valley and Sonja O’Dell of Redmond, Wash.; sister, Viola Seisert of Marshfield, Wis.; three granddaughters; and one grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
