Ervin Laurance

Services for Ervin “Erv” Laurance of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos. Graveside services will follow at the cemetery.

Mr. Laurance died Sunday, Jan. 16, in Grass Valley. He was 85.

He was born May 24, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis. He married Louise Bunker on Oct. 18, 1941, they moved to Santa Clara in 1953. He retired from Westinghouse in 1984. He was an active member of the Santa Clara Elks Lodge No. 2347, and a regular usher at St. Justin’s Catholic Church until he moved to Grass Valley in 2000. He enjoyed golf, bridge and traveling.



He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Toni and George Finger and their sons and family; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Debbie; daughter and son-in-law, Pat Preston and Tom Jones; son, Christopher Laurance; grandchildren Renee Sousa, Tiffany Yonge and husband Phil, Jodi, Elliot, and Elyse Laurance; and great-grandchildren Cameron and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, in 1994.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
