‘Who Am I, Really?’ author at Odyssey book signing

Joseph Cavanaugh will present and sign his book “Who Am I, Really?: How Our Wounds Can Lead to Healing” on Jan. 27 at Odyssey Books in Grass Valley, 7 p.m.

The book is about the nature of consciousness and the search for a healthy identity. Cavanaugh, a marriage and family counselor who also teaches at Sierra College, shows readers the way out of chronic depression and “learned helplessness,” using his own cartoons to illustrate his points.

Cooper’s offers live music

Playing tonight at Cooper’s is Gopal Slavonic of Flamenco Puro, featuring Flamenco guitar and dance with Drea & Leta. The performance will be from 8-ish to 11 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, The Mermen (psycho-delik surf party weekend), described as quite possibly the best psychedelic ‘Surf Music’ band ever, will perform. From 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Wednesday, Jan. 26, The Eloi & Friends, featuring Bill Kiley and a cool cast of eclectic underground poets and musicians, will play from 8 to 11 p.m. Coopers is in Nevada City on Commercial Street.
