Enlightening movie worth seeing again

“What The ‘Bleep’ Do We Know?” is a Canadian-made film that weaves a story with themes of quantum physics, molecular biology, addictions, psychology, mind/matter connections, neurophysiology and philosophy, alternating between an entertaining, educating and enlightening experience.

Producer William Antz likens it to an “owners manual to the matrix” where facts are stranger than fiction. The protagonist, Amanda, played by Marlene Martin (“Children of a Lesser God”) is an anxious photographer whose life is out of focus. Through her chaotic life, she finds herself in an “Alice and Wonderland” adventure, going down the rabbit hole.

Amanda gains awareness, conquers fears and gains wisdom through the transformational empowering process. A modern-day Greek chorus of 14 top scientists and mystics briefly explain the events as they unfold. One needs to wait to the end of the film to have the experts identified.

The film is 95-minutes long and has 40 minutes of animation, computer graphics and visual effects (more than “Independence Day”), which had me holding my sides with laughter. The film won best documentary recently in film festivals in Washington, D.C., Ashland, Ore. and Houston. I recommend it and plan to see it again (the record is 19 times).
