Enjoy fine post-Katrina music

The brassy New Orleans legacy, Galactic – featuring Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 and Boots Riley of the Coup – performs Sunday, Oct. 14, at MontBleu Resort in Stateline, Nev. The band’s sixth album, “From the Corner to the Block,” has been called the “grooviest, funkiest record of 2007,” one of the finest post-Katrina album to come out of New Orleans. It is not a typical hip-hop album per se, but a contemporary funk record that just happens to feature hip-hop vocalists. Opening is the band Lifesavas. Starting time for this all-ages show is 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance.
