Enjoy double dose of international folk music

A double bill of international folk music will be played Friday, Nov. 17. Podruzhki, the local Balkan women’s choir that specializes in the unusual harmonies and rhythms of Eastern Europe and builds on the tradition of West Coast ensembles Kitka and Radost, is one. Village Folk Orkestra, which plays folk music from all parts of Europe and the Middle East and whose members sing in several languages, is the other. Nevada County Folk Dancers hosts the concert and dance at Nevada City United Methodist Church, 433 Broad St., in the Fellowship Hall at street level. Admission is by donation, and dancers, listeners and beginning dancers are all welcome. Call 272-2149 for more information.
