Enjoy all things llama at yearly show

Meadowlarks 4-H’er Hilary Olsen, shown here with her favorite llama, Dulcie (Sweetie in Spanish), is participating in the CAL-ILA llama show that is taking place Saturday and Sunday (May 26 and 27), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley. Llamas may be viewed and petted in their stalls as owners answer questions. A highlight of the weekend is the llama cart-driving event on Saturday at 9 a.m., as well as youth and adult classes in all things llama. Sunday’s program will feature halter classes, where highly groomed llamas are judged on beauty and correct conformation. Two hundred people are expected to bring their animals to this 11th annual show.

The event is free. Contact (530) 432-5246 or visit http://www.cal-ila.org for more information.
