Elizabeth Hanson

A memorial Mass for Elizabeth Ann (McCarthy) Hanson will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Rev. Tim Nondorf will officiate.

Mrs. Hanson died Tuesday, Jan. 24, in Grass Valley. She was 86.

She was born March 27, 1919, in Boston, Mass. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Framington College, she worked as a dietitian at Massachusetts General Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital, served as director of volunteers and menu planner for Meals on Wheels in Central Maryland. She married John T. Hanson in February 1948 in Boston. She was a member of the American Association of University Women.



She is survived by her husband, John T. Hanson of Grass Valley; sons Mark, Christian, Jay, James and Charles Hanson; grandchildren, Joshua, Ericka, William, Shane, Justin, Emily, David, Olivia, Lauren and Annika; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sam and Morgan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
