Grass Valley council candidate declines endorsements

Submitted to The Union

With 76 days until the Nov. 4 election, Jerri Glover, candidate for Grass Valley City Council, is making a public commitment to the voters to forego donations from political action committees or political parties.

After several inquiries from organizations indicating a desire to support her run for Grass Valley City Council, Glover is clarifying her intent to run a truly nonpartisan campaign.

“I appreciate the offer of endorsements from various entities,” she said in a press release Thursday. “However, I would rather have the support of the individual members because I believe that the voice of these individuals is louder than the voice of the group.”

Glover continued, “I will attend functions of all interested parties, because I want to meet and know the people that make up these associations. As an independent voter running for a nonpartisan position, it’s important for me to have relationships with the folks that make up the groups and not get stuck in the politics of any one establishment.

“As your future city council member, it’s imperative to hear the voices of all Grass Valley’s residents in order to best represent their interests.”

Glover said she understands the value of endorsements from these groups, and knows she will need to work tirelessly, via a grassroots campaign, to show the voters of Grass Valley that she is the best candidate for the position of council member.

“Nevada County is filled with passionate people and groups. I believe in bringing people together, regardless of their political leanings,” she said. “This belief is at the core of my campaign.”
