Early voting available at polling cite today

Early continues today, as the Nevada County Elections Office will be open for the Nov. 6 General Election.

The polling location will not be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday.

The elections office is located at the Rood Center 950 Maidu Ave., Suite 250, Nevada City, 95959.

Vote-by-mail ballots should no longer be sent in the mail, as the deadline to do so was Nov. 1, reported the Nevada County Democrats.

Voters can, however, bring their ballots to any polling location on Election Day, including the Nevada County Elections

Both Nevada County’s Republican and Democratic parties plan to provide transportation to voters needing a ride on Election Day.

The parties also offered to help voters locate their polling location if they are unable to reach the county elections office.

In addition to Republican candidate Gov. Mitt Romney challenging incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama, Nevada County Ron Paul campaign coordinator Betty Westman reminds voters that the Republican Texas Congressmen qualified for write-in candidate status in 14 states, including California.

Paul is accompanied by former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano as the vice presidential candidate.
