Eleanor Harris

Funeral services for Eleanor Harris will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Graveside services will follow at New Elm Ridge Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Harris died Feb. 23, 2006, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley. She was 89.

She was born Oct. 26, 1916 in Portland, Ore., to Herbert E. and Hester L. Brown. She graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1934. In April of 1935, she married Irvin Harris in Reno. She worked for the Blue Bird Cafe, Valet Cleaners and retired from Montgomery Ward in Grass Valley. She enjoyed hunting and fishing.



She is survived by her brother, Herbert E. Brown of Meadow Vista; sister, Phyllis Wishard of Richmond; sisters-in-law, Ellen Harris of El Cajon and Margaret Brown of Meadow Vista; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin Harris; her parents, Herbert E. and Hester Brown, sister, Marcella Brown and brother, David Brown.

Memorial contributions may be made the charity of the donor’s choice.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
