Edwin Dalaba

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, 459 Hollow Way in Nevada City for Edwin Dalaba. Mr. Dalaba, a resident of Nevada City, passed away July 20 at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley. He was 85.

Mr. Dalaba was born Jan. 19, 1922, to Edwin B. Dalaba Sr. and Margarette (Green) Dalaba in Williams Port, Pa. He was a tank driver and shooter in the United States Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of Normandy.

On Oct. 17, 1953, Mr. Dalaba married Evelyn Way in Reno, Nev. He worked at a sawmill for 40 years and enjoyed ranching and caring for his numerous pets in his free time.

Mr. Dalaba is survived by his wife, Evelyn Dalaba of Grass Valley; daughters Diane Mason of Auburn and Joann Dalaba Akiyoshi of Grass Valley; sisters Shirley Williams of Georgia and Lucy Gamble of Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
