Edna McCartney

Edna Mae McCartney, 89, of Grass Valley, died Monday, Feb. 3, at Spring Hill Manor in Grass Valley.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.

Mrs. McCartney was born on Jan. 26, 1914, in Steubenville, Ohio, to August and Amelia Slater. She married John Ivor McCartney on July 1, 1936. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tuscola, Ill. Chapter No. 44 and served as Worthy Matron in 1975. She worked for the University of Illinois, Douglas County Co-operative Extension Service for agriculture and home economics. She was a seamstress and enjoyed playing bridge.



She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Langdon of Nevada City, Lynne Kohrt of Columbus, Ohio and Karen Aumick of Troy, Ohio; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ivor McCartney on May 12, 1973.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
