Early Risers Toastmasters

Toastmasters is more than just learning how to speak. We also learn how to conduct and evaluate speeches.

At a recent contest, the club heard a speech by Shawn Tuttle. The title of her riveting speech was “Return to Light.”

After her talk, seven members of the club took turns discussing her speech in a two-minute time frame. Then they were judged on how they evaluated the talk. Three winners emerged – Judy Nichols, Courtney Ferguson and LeeAnn Brook, who was the first-place winner. She will be the Early Risers Toastmaster Club representative March 24 when the four local clubs will compete against each other.

If you want to improve your evaluation skills or learn how to speak in front of a friendly group, join our club for breakfast at 6:30 a.m. any Tuesday morning at the Trolley Junction restaurant. For more information, call 273-9777.
