E.J. Gold and Isaac James, two of the area’s most engaging personalities, are also drummers who will be among the 10 or so acts featured Sunday in a holiday showcase.

For seven hours, art, music, mime, magic, comedy, poetry, drumming and dance will be ongoing at the Center for the Arts.

Among the acts will be Kelly Rivera and Robbert Trice in excerpts from the comedy “Creation Story Verbatim.” Zoe Alowan will perform classical dance of South India, accompanied by poet Iven Lourie and the Thieves Market Band playing Bossa Nova, blues and jazz.

Before the acts, a live fine art and gift auction, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be conducted by Gold, who is also a visual artist. Items to be auctioned include a Matisse linocut and a Chagall lithograph, and paintings, prints and sculpture by Grass Valley Graphics Group members.

Coinciding with the auction and holiday showcase is the “Art is For Giving” exhibit, featuring works by the Grass Valley Graphics Group.

Admission is $10 general, $5 for seniors and children under 12, and free for children. Tickets are at BriarPatch, Odyssey Books, Book Seller, E.J. Gold Fine Art Gallery, Record Connection, Truffle Shop, Harmony Books and at the door. The Center for the Arts is at 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley. Call 272-0180 for more information.
