Doyle Youngs

Doyle Youngs died peacefully of natural causes on Oct. 18 in Grass Valley. He was 91. No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Youngs was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Norton, Kan., to Orville and Nellie Youngs. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Jean Graham in 1958.

Mr. Youngs worked on the Polaris Missile for Westinghouse. He worked on several mining projects for Fluor Corp., from which he retired in 1979.



He enjoyed hiking with the Sierra Club and the Berkeley Hiking Club. Mr. and Mrs. Youngs had many happy adventures traveling in their trailer in the United States and Canada. They also were avid square dancers for more than 30 years and made many lifelong friendships with their fellow dancers. Youngs’ other passions included amateur radio (WLBLM), fishing and ping pong.

Mr. Youngs is survived by his wife, Jean Youngs of Grass Valley; sister-in-law, Eileen Youngs and her children, Jeff, Jana, Jeanne and Joy of Fresno.; nieces Linda Griffin of Coalinga and Brenda Youngs of South Carolina; and nephew, John Daniels of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Loyal Youngs.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
