Dorothy Kent

A celebration of life for Dorothy Jennie Kent of Lake of the Pines will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Sierra Pines Methodist Church, 22559 W. Hacienda Drive in Auburn. The Rev. Don Lee will officiate the services.

Mrs. Kent died Sunday, July 18, at home. She was 85.

She was born Jan. 30, 1919. She had been a resident of Lake of the Pines for 14 years. She enjoyed her bridge group, LOP Firebell’s and was a member of the Sierra Pines Methodist Church. Her “Grandma’s Bread Pudding” was sold at Awful Annie’s Restaurant. She enjoyed baking and hearing people rave about her baking. She was an avid Kings fan.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and John Young of Parkville, Mo., Jai and Donald Baker of Lake of the Pines and Paulette and Michael Lavelle of Weimar; and stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, William H. Kent, II and Tamara Kent of Northridge; grandchildren Rita Plumb, Diana Streater, Adam and Bryan Baker, Cassie and Laurel Lavelle, and Ryan and Dustin Kent; and great-grandchildren Kelly and Ali. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Kent Jr. in 1997.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
