Dorothy Grill

A celebration of life for Dorothy Grill will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Bible Church in Grass Valley.



Mrs. Grill died Wednesday, April 24, in Sacramento. She was 82.




She was born on April 15, 1920, in Santa Cruz, to Burton and Katherine Walker.

She moved to Los Angeles, where she was raised and attended school.

She married Frank Grill on April 3, 1942, and they moved to Grass Valley in 1959.

Mrs. Grill was a homemaker. She also worked with her husband in their family businesses, Gold Rush Properties of Grass Valley and the Crystal Range Motel of South Lake Tahoe.

She was a member of Calvary Bible Church of Grass Valley and volunteered for Hospice of the Foothills.

Mrs. Grill enjoyed baking and making jams and jellies; sewing; gardening and fishing with her husband at Lake Tahoe and the Inland Passage of Alaska.

She is survived by her son, Fred Grill of Grass Valley; daughters Nancy McLeod of Brush Prairie, Wash., and Jeannie Weaver of Auburn; granddaughters Amanda and Lauryn Grill and Samantha and Melissa McLeod; and grandson, Joshua McLeod.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Grill in 1997.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Foothills.
