Dorothy Edens

Visitation for family and friends of Dorothy Flower Edens of Grass Valley will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at the Milton Freewater Cemetery in Oregon.

Ms. Edens died Sunday, Jan. 19, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 90.



She was born on April 6, 1912, to Harry and Ruth Flower. She attended the School of Nursing, Providence Hospital in Seattle, Wash. She was married and divorced twice in Southern California. She was an office nurse in Southern California and an emergency nurse at the Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. She volunteered at the Nevada County Health Department, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Red Cross of Nevada County. She was an avid Raider and 49er fan.

She is survived by her stepson, Dale Edens of Lodi; cousins, Margaret White of Grass Valley, Pat Ekstam of Nevada City and Dr. Donald Lang of Loma Linda; and numerous other cousins throughout Northern California.




Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
