Dorothy Creek

Private family services for Dorothy L. Creek of Grass Valley will be conducted in Lafayette.



Mrs. Creek died Thursday, April 11, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley after a lengthy illness. She was 91.




She was born May 23, 1910, in Libertyville, Iowa, to Harry and Winifred Hughell. She graduated from Libertyville High School in 1929 and attended Iowa State Teachers College. She married Van H. Creek on May 20, 1934, and moved to California in 1937.

They lived in the Bay Area until 1972, when they moved to Grass Valley.

She taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany for 30 years and Cedar Ridge Baptist Church since 1975. She enjoyed traveling and the big trees and forests in California.

She is survived by her son Vincent G. Creek of Walnut Creek; son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Nancy Creek of Grass Valley; sisters Meryle Buerkens of Berkeley and Evaughn Manning of Lafayette; grandchildren Denise Garcia of Livermore and Vicki Creek of Pleasanton; and great-grandchildren Sophie, Max and Jesse. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Cedar Ridge Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
