Dorothy Braude

Dorothy Braude of Grass Valley died Tuesday, Jan. 29. She was 90.

Private family services are planned.



Mrs. Braude was born Sept. 26, 1911, in Chicago to Harry and Rose Lishner. She was married in Los Angeles on Feb. 23, 1936. She worked as secretary to the chair of the Elementary Education Department at California State University at Los Angeles.




She was one of the founders of the BriarPatch Community Market and was politically active in civil rights and peace movements. She also enjoyed travel and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron Braude of Grass Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Braude of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Bruce Gladstone of Sherman Oaks; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends Society (Quakers).
