Dorothy Blackburn

A private family gathering for Dorothy Elizabeth Blackburn of Grass Valley will be conducted.

Mrs. Blackburn died Thursday, Aug. 5, at home. She was 81.

She was born March 26, 1923, in Chicago to Floyd and Mae (Androzejczak) Palicki. She married William Blackburn on Jan. 19, 1946, in Chicago. She retired from American Mutual Hardware Insurance as an underwriter. She was a past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve and Senior Gleaners. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family.



She is survived by her daughters Andrae Hollomon, and Jennie Blackburn both of Grass Valley; son, Woody Blackburn of Grass Valley; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law Anna and Ken Rogers of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dawn and Scott Enke of Monterey; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Blackburn, in 1999; and daughters, Sandra Kay Torres, and Mary Elizabeth Blackburn.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
