Doris Ukropec

Graveside services for Doris Ukropec will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City. Anne Nielsen will officiate.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, Nevada City.

Mrs. Ukropec died Sept. 28 at her home in Nevada City. She was 79.



She was born April 4, 1928, to Mort and Nona Meek in Idabel, Okla. She graduated from Berkeley High School and on May 1, 1948, married John Ukropec in Phenix City, Alabama.

Mrs. Ukropec retired from Herrick Hospital in Berkeley as a dietitian. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved Lake Tahoe and Boomtown, where she played the nickel slot machines.




Mrs. Ukropec is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and John Macleod of Moraga; granddaughters Sarah Macleod of Castro Valley and Melissa Anderson, of Santa Rosa; grandson-in-law, Marc Anderson of Santa Rosa; great-granddaughter, Katelynn Anderson of Santa Rosa; brother, Carl Meek of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ambrose Ukropec; sisters Jewel Tompkins, Lola Hagerman, Reba Thomas and Beaulah Sugg; and brother, Guy Meek.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
