Doris Clift

Services for Doris Janet Clift of Penn Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary. Graveside services will follow at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Nevada City.

Mrs. Clift died Thursday, Feb. 16, in Auburn. She was 80.

She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Springfield, Mo., to Carl and Esther Giboney. She was a valedictorian of her nursing school class where she received her LVN. She was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She married Jim Vance in Los Angeles in 1944, and Richard Clift in San Jose in 1972. She was a nurse. She enjoyed family and fishing.



She is survived by her sister, Vera Collins of Reno, Nev.; daughters and sons-in-law Tina and Greg Gebbart of Madera, Linda and Bruce Gruver of Clovis, and Teresa and Bert Williamson of Sunnyvale; sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Becky Vance of Whitefish, Mont., and Michael and Carolyn Vance of Penn Valley; son, Pat Vance of Auburn; daughter, Julie Eastwood of Reno, Nev.; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie McCaleb.
