Donations needed for school supply drive

For the fifth year, a local group is holding a school supply drive for poor children living in Nevada and Placer counties.

Women of Worth will hold the fifth annual “Way Cool Back to School” from July 15 through August 3.

New Backpacks and school supplies are needed. People can donate wide and college ruled paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, combination locks, folders, glue, scissors, highlighters, crayons, erasers, rulers, pencil sharpeners, math kits, tissues, hand sanitizer and book covers.

The drive is also looking for classroom supplies such as: Design-making scissors, board games for rainy day recess, playground equipment such as small beanbags to toss around, jump ropes, playing cards such as Old Maid, Go Fish and appropriate puzzles.

Other donation ideas include: gift certificates to department and specialty stores for new school clothes, shoes and school supplies.

Donations may be dropped off at the following locations:

– The Union Newspaper, 464 Sutton Way, Grass Valley

– Weaver Auto and Truck Center, 400 Idaho-Maryland Road, Grass Valley

– Magnussen’s Auburn Toyota, 800 Nevada Street, Auburn

– Dr. Randall Hensley, 17119 Placer Hills Road, Meadow Vista
