Donald Morgan

Donald Richard Morgan, 72, of Grass Valley died Friday, Feb. 8, at home.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Mr. Morgan was born June 2, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Richard and Evelyn Morgan. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles and a master’s in education from California State University at Sacramento. He married Mildred Thorson on Aug. 15, 1949.

He was a pioneer in the nuclear power industry and worked for 20 years in aerospace nondestructive-testing quality control management. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Quality Control.

He enjoyed sailboat racing, wine- and beermaking, birding, viticulture, stock analysis and travel. He traveled to all seven continents.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Morgan of Grass Valley; daughters Linda Paris of Seattle and Carole Mack of Orangevale; son, Doug Morgan of Nevada City; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
