Don Koenig

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Cirino’s in Grass Valley for Don “Padre” Koenig. Mr. Koenig passed away July 10 in Grass Valley.

Mr. Koenig was born in 1925 in Alma, Wis. Between 1951 and 1953 he served his country in the United States Army. After living in different parts of the country, he settled in Grass Valley, where he worked at Bunce’s Place for 25 years.

Mr. Koenig was loved by his many friends. Most evenings he could be found having a glass of wine with them at Cirino’s on Main Street. He enjoyed golf, going to the gym and swimming. He also loved good food and was an excellent cook.



Mr. Koenig is survived by family members Pam and David Baker of Maryland, Doug and Jennifer Koenig of Alaska, and Kristen, Christopher and Zachary of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Mr. Koenig’s remains will be placed in the Memory Garden.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
