District unification would be well worth the effort

Wednesday, Feb. 24’s Other Voices addressed School District Unification. Kudos to Ms. Davis on her recommendations. When budgets get tight, how can parents tolerate schools increasing class size and cutting back programs, supplies, and teachers without demanding the elimination of unnecessary administrative costs as the first option?

All the little districts in Grass Valley and Nevada City are an expensive illusion of local control. Unifying them would be a big task, but well worth it. I went through school in a unified system and was not deprived of a good education. It is important that as many education dollars as possible end up in the classroom.
