Deputy sheriffs endorse Smith for judge

Deputy sheriff’s endorsed lawyer Kristin Smith for judge today, saying she has the best qualifications from among six contenders.

Smith is running for the Nevada County Superior Court seat that will be left vacant with the retirement of Judge Carl F. Bryan II. She is a civil and family lawyer who has represented children in custody, abuse and neglect issues.

“She is the candidate who has the most experience with Nevada County’s biggest problem, methamphetamine,” said Det. Guy Selleck, representative of the Nevada County Deputy Sheriffs Association. “She can tell the difference between who are the treatable ones versus the nontreatable.”
