December trial set for National Hotel theft suspects

Two people suspected of stealing $5,000 from Nevada City’s historic National Hotel earlier this year are set for trial in December.

Melissa King, 18, and Jamie Holman, 23, have been charged with felony grand theft and conspiracy to commit a felony for the hotel theft, Deputy District Attorney Jim Phillips said Friday. Both have pleaded not guilty and are scheduled for trial at 9 a.m. Dec. 4 in Nevada County Judge Robert Tamietti’s courtroom.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of April 12.

A clerk stepped away from her hotel desk for about 15 minutes at about 4 a.m. and when she returned she found all the cash registers had been emptied, according Nevada City police statements.
