Decade of dance tunes

Grab your party hats and put on your dancing shoes for Real George’s milestone anniversary party Friday at Center for the Arts.

A decade has passed since The Tribe, which evolved a few years ago into Real George, debuted at a benefit concert for the Green Party.

At Friday’s 8 p.m. show, Real George will play favorites from 10 years ago to now.

A swing dance contest and a dance demonstration by the Razzmatazz Swing Dance group will also be held during the party.

Real George members are the five-piece horn section of Paul Trethewey, Gene Stuart and Walter Webb on saxophones and Mike Bankston and Glenn Smith on trumpets and flugelhorn; rhythm section of Kit Bailey on percussion, Rod Martin on drums, Neil Gerjuoy on guitar, Dave Bastian on keyboards and Patrick Poulson on bass; and vocal section of Wendy Martin and Beth Moore Haines.

The Nevada County R&B band performs at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $10 at the door. Refreshments will be sold.

Center for the Arts is at 314 W. Main St. in Grass Valley. Call 274-8384 or 477-0330 for more information.
